Al-Ansar Hit 4 Past Ahly Sidon, to Regain the Leadership of the League Table.
(April 27, 99)

Ahly Sidon v Al-Al-Ansar: 0-4.
Scorers: Peter Prospar (10'), Jamal Taha (64'), Ahmed Saqsouq (70'), Mohamed Jawad (90').

Al-Ansar, the league champions in the past 10 seasons, were in an emphatic mood as they outclassed minnows Ahly Sidon before their own fans, and regain the pole position of the league table with 39 points, just one point ahead of last week's surprising leaders, Safa.

Ultimate winners by four goals without reply, Al-Ansar sent a clear message of defiance to all the other contenders of their favorite trophy, namely Safa, that they won't relinquish their hopes to maintain their grip over it, despite the loss of form in the recent stages of the competition.

As for Ahly Sidon, the alarming aspect of a possible drop to the second division began to loom in the horizon, as they slipped to the 8th place with just 21 points, with the bottom clubs gaining respective wins to close the gap with them. Only 3 points are separating them from the rock-bottom side Al Burj (18 points to their credit).

Al-Ansar's Trinidadian striker Peter Prospar shocked the local fans at just the 10th minute, courtesy of an easy close-range effort after a brilliant solo run down the left flank by midfielder Malek Hassoun.

The side has to wait till midway through the second half, in order to finally secure the result: Skipper Jamal Taha (from a brilliant volley inside the penalty area) in the 64th minute, and fresh substitute Ahmed Saqsouq (thanks to a screamer past the stranded Khaled Homsi) in the 70th minute, before Mohamed Jawad rounding up a comprehensive performance in the last minute of the encounter with a tricky goal following a lose ball from the home defense.

All in all, a brilliant rehearsal for the reigning champs before their intriguing clash in the forthcoming 20th Week, away to rampant Tadamon Sour in Tyre.
